Description

Created in 2008, Chichibu Japanese single malt whisky has earned widespread recognition among Japanese whisky enthusiasts and connoisseurs worldwide. Produced entirely at the distillery-and increasingly using local barley, peat, and even Japanese oak casks for certain expressions-Chichibu is steadily moving towards becoming the first truly 100% Japanese whisky, driven by the vision of its founder, Ichiro Akuto.

Maltiply Tasting Profile
Nose
Rich and unctuous. Supported by a pleasant malty bitterness, earthy and spicy notes of cinnamon quickly give way to tropical fruits (passion fruit, lychee), dark berries (grape, blackberry), and forest floor aromas (dry leaves, porcini mushrooms). Subtle hints of prune add a touch of nobility.
Palate
Clean and lively. Initially oily, firmly peaty, lemony, and peppery, the profile evolves toward honeyed, waxy nuances and gains roundness. Toasted bread, rusks, malty notes (barley porridge) and juicy fruit (mirabelle plum, damson) give structure to the palate. Vanilla, cocoa and a delicate smoke complete the ensemble.
Finish
The long finish brings the malt note back to the forefront, enlivened by gentian, mint, eucalyptus and sage. The character remains both tropical (passion fruit).
