Description

This Old Particular bottling from Douglas Laing comes from 'A Family Favourite Distillery', whose identity remains undisclosed. It was specially selected by Cara Laing to mark her 20th anniversary in the whisky industry. This single cask single malt was matured in a Sherry Butt and bottled at natural cask strength of 61.4%. Only 668 bottles were produced, naturally without colouring and without chill filtration. It is characterized by classic sherried richness with notes of dried fruits, sultanas, orange peel, cocoa, fruitcake, dark chocolate and warming spice.

Nose
Rich and full with dried fruits, sultanas, raisins and orange peel. Then cocoa, polished oak and gentle spice come forward. With time in the glass, notes of leather, roasted nuts, cinnamon and dark chocolate appear.
Palate
Powerful, velvety and concentrated. Fruitcake, treacle toffee and dark chocolate open broadly, followed by raisins, nuts, cinnamon, clove and a touch of nutmeg. The 61.4% brings plenty of intensity and warmth, while the balance remains nicely intact.
Finish
Long, warm and spicy with lingering espresso, dark chocolate, dried fruit and sweet spice. Toward the end, an elegant, gently drying oak glow remains.
