Description

OUR HANDSOME DISTILLERY is sited on the River Tay in the CENTRAL HIGHLANDS of Scotland. Founded by Tommy and John Alexander Dewar, and with architecture designed by Charles Doig, the distillery has, up to today, been producing since 1898. Today, we still use time-honoured techniques like long fermentation to conjure rare honeyed notes, and draw water from the PITILIE BURN, renowned for its quality and PROMISE OF GOLD. MELLOWED in handmade oak casks, this smooth, sweet dram offers rich rewards for those who like to DIG DEEPER. HIDDEN within our warehouses, are a parcel of casks we've been keeping an extra watchful eye over as we believe they possess REMARKABLE QUALITIES, these casks are classed as EXCEPTIONAL. SPECIALLY CHOSEN for the malt's distinctive personality and excellence by our Malt Master, Stephanie Macleod, and bottled in very SMALL QUANTITIES, this exceedingly RARE WHISKY is from The Exceptional Cask Series - A collection of some of the most exquisite single malts from ABERFELDY.

Nose
Aroma opens with bright red fruit and a mellow honeyed malt presence. Secondary notes develop into dried stone fruit, faint leather and soft tobacco leaf. The wine finish contributes a floral and slightly saline edge that keeps the nose lively. Fresh forest berries and ripe plums, followed by fine wood smoke, slightly earthy tones and a hint of dried herbs.
Palate
Juicy red fruits sit alongside toasted cereal sweetness, light cocoa and a fine seam of oak spice. The Pauillac red wine influence appears as compact redcurrant and plum tones with a faint cedar-like tannic edge. These elements interplay with a creamy malt body and restrained dry spice. Full-bodied and deep – juicy red fruits meet spicy oak, some cinnamon and subtle roasted aromas. A hint of dark chocolate harmoniously rounds off the mouthfeel. A decadently rich dram with notes of rich ripe cherries and fresh blackberries, intertwined with Aberfeldy's signature honeyed smoothness.
Finish
The finish is long, warm and slowly tapering. Fruit notes linger alongside toasted spice and a gentle drying from the wine cask influence. A final echo of cocoa and nutmeg remains on the palate, inviting another sip or a small pause to let flavors resettle. Long-lasting with notes of grape skin, clove and a gentle hint of tannin – dry, but elegant.
