Description
Pernod Ricard's share of the Scotch Whisky market is second only to Diageo's; a fact that is in no small part down to their acquisition of Aberlour distillery in 1974. Despite being unlucky enough to suffer two catastrophic fires (in 1879 and 1898), Aberlour has enjoyed stable production throughout most of its life, and under the current regime its popularity has exploded. The Aberlour A'Bunadh range is a tribute to the distillery's original style of whisky, made with 19th-century methods and matured solely in sherry casks. Each small batch in the range is based on the contents of a bottle from the late 1800s which was allegedly discovered by workmen almost a century later and analysed in a lab. Every limited-edition batch of this no-age-statement single malt is slightly different, but all are distinguished by a rich and sweet character thanks to their sherry incubation.
