Description

This Aberlour 14 Year Old Double Cask Matured is a single malt whisky from Scotland's Speyside region, part of Aberlour's core range. It has been matured for 14 years in a combination of Oloroso sherry casks from Jerez, Spain, and first-fill American oak casks from Kentucky, USA. This double maturation process, overseen by Master Distiller Graeme Cruickshank, results in a rich and elegant profile. The whisky is bottled at 40% ABV and was released in 2020. It has received multiple accolades, including Double Gold medals at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in 2020 and 2021, and a Gold medal at the International Spirits Challenge 2020. It is chill-filtered and often comes in a gift box.

Nose
Big aromatics with cloves, cardamom, camphor, toffee, milk chocolate, and orange rind. Also sweet vanilla, ripe cherry, blackcurrants, treacly butterscotch, and lightly spiced Spanish oak. Hints of brown sugar, caramel, heather honey, dried fruits (raisin, sultana, candied orange peel), brambles, baking spice (cinnamon, all-spice), and an oat-like quality.
Palate
Full, round, and creamy texture with sweet dark cherries, fudge, mocha coffee, and a refreshing minty breeze. Notes of oranges, yellow plums, summer berries, vanilla, sugary set honey, toffee, salted caramel, green apple, oat-like cereal, oatcakes, malted biscuits, tart summer berries, gooey blackcurrant jam, delicate oak wood, and subtle spice. Soft caramel and freshly baked butterscotch.
Finish
Long, sweet, and perfectly balanced with lingering honey and wood spice. Decadent vanilla and custard tart trailing off into sherried oak. Also notes of oaky fudge, astringent oak, and toffee.
