Description
Akkeshi Boshu Peated Single Malt 2021 is a distinctive Japanese whisky, part of the "24 Sekki" or "24 Solar Terms" series, inspired by the ancient Asian calendar. Boshu represents the ninth solar term, linked to the sowing season of cereals and the appearance of fireflies in Hokkaido, depicted on the label. This limited edition release is made from a blend of peated and unpeated malts, including locally grown Ryofu domestic barley. Distilled in 2017 and bottled in 2021, it matured for about 4 years in a combination of ex-Bourbon, ex-sherry, ex-red wine, and Mizunara casks, with approximately 90% in bourbon casks. The distillery aims to blend traditional Scottish methods with unique Akkeshi flavors, using water passed through a peat layer and maturing the whisky in the cool, damp, brine-rich environment of Akkeshi.
