Description

Akkeshi Single Malt Whisky RISSHUN is the 14th release in the distillery's "24 Solar Terms Series". "Risshun" is the beginning of the 24 seasons and the time when the longitude of the sun reaches 315 degrees, which is around February 4 on the solar calendar. It is the midpoint between the winter solstice and the vernal equinox. This special single malt is the most heavily peated whisky from Akkeshi to date. Condensed milk, fermented butter, whipped cream, salt, honey, oven and fresh bread. Delicate smoky tones reminiscent of a distant campfire, fresh apple and pear, soft floral hints, and a touch of citrus.
Palate
Roasted marshmallows, caramelized walnuts, dried persimmons, and sweetness with citrus acidity of oranges. Full and refined, with a beautiful balance between peat smoke and fruity accents like green apple, apricot, and subtle peach, complemented by light sweetness of vanilla and caramel, and a hint of white pepper and minerality.
Finish
Smooth texture with refreshing citrus acidity, followed by a lingering sweet peaty flavor. Notes of black pepper, citrus peel, and lemon-lime cider.
