Description
This Amrut release's name is Naarangi, which means "orange" in Hindi. The reason is down to its unique ageing process. To produce this whisky, Amrut procured Oloroso Sherry from Spain and matured wine along with orange peel in it for a period of three years. These Oloroso sherry casks were aged for more than two years with orange peel as well as sherry, infusing the cask with orange essence. The wine and peels were then emptied, and the casks were filled with 3-year-old matured Amrut single malt whisky (initially aged in ex-Bourbon casks) and allowed to mature for a further three years. This makes for a wonderfully spicy and sweet dram and a fantastic experiment.
