Description

In 1888, brothers John and William Hardie created a truly remarkable blended Scotch Whisky that has since stood the test of time - "The Antiquary". It is fitting that a unique 21 year old blend was specially crafted to honour that long heritage. To create this masterpiece, we have carefully selected the finest of Scotland's most cherished Single Malt and Grain whiskies which are then blended together for over one year in a period of "marriage" prior to bottling. Each whisky has a minimum age of 21 years. The result is a perfectly balanced blend - full of aromas with just a hint of sweetness. The long and smooth finish will satisfy the most discerning of palates. "The Antiquary" 21 years old.

Nose
Vibrant, rich, with a wisp of expressive peat smoke, dark raisin, milk chocolate, caramel, candied orange peel, malty biscuits, baked apple, and a soft ashy, heather-like floral edge. Clean and fresh with apple orchard, grass, hay, golden syrup, gentle toffee, digestive biscuits, and milk drenched cereal. Deeper notes of wet leaves, gentle white pepper, and hedgerow berries.
Palate
Rich, sweet, and decadent with caramel, toffee apple, raisin, prune, dried fig, candied orange peel, cloved poached pear, milk chocolate, cocoa powder, cinnamon bark, and powdered ginger. Silky, malty, with crab apples, honey, sugar-coated summer fruits, cereal, corn, and a building pepperiness.
Finish
Long and smooth, with drying smoke, warming savoury notes reminiscent of old cigar box and dusty sootiness. Medium length, emphasizing pepper, dustiness, a hint of burnt wood/peat smoke, nutty, and red fruits with a touch of brine.
