Nose
Light, vibrant. Aroma: Streams of diesel oil, gearbox oil and bitumen bring to mind the Ardbeg of yesteryear. A splash. Then a splash of sea spray opens forth, with smoked lemon and lime. A little water reveals the earthy, mossy notes of an old Ardbeg peat bog.
Palate
Unexpectedly rich, contrasting the aromas with rich, juicy notes of liquorice, tar, espresso coffee, white and pink peppercorns. Diesel oil and creosote flow into a long, chewy peat oil, a hint of road tar and coal dust.
Finish
Long, lingering, smoky, tarry, with a final burst of aniseed.
