Description

A distillery located on the south coast of the Isle of Islay. It is currently part of the Scotch whisky holdings of LVMH. Despite being closed twice in the latter 20th century, the distillery's heavily-peated single malt has always been highly-regarded.

Nose
Sweet smoke up front, with some honey sugars, and some hints of meat bouillon, which one finds sometimes in sherry matured whiskies.
Palate
Ultra ashy, like putting your tongue inside a full ashtray that has not been emptied a few days, in a bar. Ashes, dry ashes, galore. later sweet sherry notes mixed with smoke, tar, soot, charred.
Finish
long, sweet and slightly dry with peppery overtones.
