Description

This is one of the legendary Ardbeg Provenance bottlings, distilled in 1974 and matured for 23 years until being released in 1998. This is the second release of four and was bottled on 19th May 1998. This one was exclusively for the US market. A distillery located on the south coast of the Isle of Islay. It is currently part of the Scotch whisky holdings of LVMH. Despite being closed twice in the 1980s and 1990s, it has become one of the most iconic Islay malts.

Nose
Spiced, rich nose with notes of baked apple and cinnamon. Hints of beeswax, potpourri and iodine. A little furniture polish, dried apricot, sticking plasters and parsley.
Palate
Herbal and very complex palate with fiery peat smoke and citrus zest. Bitter lime juice, caramel, toasted teacakes and cocoa powder. Hints of curry spice and cardamom.
Finish
Very long finish with hints of burnt sugar, black pepper and mixed spices.
