A single cask bottling from Ardbeg distillery, distilled in October 1996 and bottled in October 2006 by Douglas Laing under The Old Malt Cask series. Aged 10 years, it is non-chill filtered and has no added colouring, bottled at 50% ABV. It was matured in a refill hogshead or butt. Ardbeg is a distillery located on the south coast of the Isle of Islay, known for its heavily-peated single malt.

A classic Ardbeg profile with big hit of peat, ashes although not as strong as current offering, lemon and wet cut hay. Left it in the glass for a while and sniffed more lemon and fruity notes with whiffs of cigar smoke.
Palate
Starts with big peat hit, Lemon, Ex-bourbon impact with sweetness of honey vanilla, some smoke and charred oak wood.
Finish
Long and satisfying finish with lemon, smoked oak and charcoals, lingering sweetness and peat.
