Nose
Salted plums, iodine, dried apricots, raspberry fruit leather, medjool dates, hint of blueberries, burning incense, liquorice, loquats, tie guan yin tea, just a touch of vegetable-tanned cowhide. Incredibly powerful, complex and yet well-structured nose.
Palate
More silky than viscous, perfect alcohol integration though slightly drying in a winey way, peat diluted in ice-cold sparkling mineral water, fresh dates, umeshu, Merlot, dried persimmon and wild cranberry bush.
Finish
Tapers off quickly to a long tail of soft complex camphor, dark rooty tinctures, cordyceps, ginseng, aloe vera, tonkatsu sauce and green Chartreuse. Low proof does show but the sherrying ensures it is never quite thin.
