The mandarin and bitter citrus rind give this a lively edge, while creamy caramel and barley sweetness keep it round. That balance sounds right up my street, with ginger and cask spices bringing a firmer finish.
This has a lovely sweet-fruit-and-spice thread: apple pie, caramelized pear and vanilla lead into a creamy palate with nutmeg and reduced mandarin juice. The finish sounds especially appealing, turning toward sour pickled ginger and bitter citrus rind rather than simply extending the sweetness. That sweet-to-bitter contrast gives this island single malt some character. No obvious coastal note is documented, but the citrus and spice still make for an engaging direction.
