Description

This Arran 1996 vintage single malt was distilled in Arran's second full year of production and matured for 22 years in a single sherry hogshead. Bottled in January 2019 by Morrison & MacKay for the Càrn Mòr Celebration of the Cask series, it is presented at cask strength without chill filtration or artificial colouration. The whisky emphasizes earthy, malty qualities of Arran's spirit alongside oakier, fruitier flavours from the cask, resulting in a well-balanced dram. Only 335 bottles were produced.

Palate
Gentle mineral funk, light wax, longan, nectarine, apple, lemon rind, crumbled digestives, citrus, tropical fruits, warm, sweet spices, chocolate, coffee, dried fruits in rum, apples, brown sugar, austere sherry, vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, walnuts, pineapple and toffee.
Finish
Medium length with a long tail, tinned peaches, mushy over-ripe apple, tart longans, avocado, light eggy steamed cake, hint of walnut oiliness, hint of wax, clean, crisp and smooth.
