Description

This Single Malt Scotch whisky was produced in 2004 as a collaboration between the Agronomy Institute of Orkney College and the Isle of Arran Distillery. Bere is Scotland's oldest cultivated barley and was commonly used until the 20th century for the production of whisky. Bere for this Arran whisky was grown on Orkney before being malted in Inverness and subsequently distilled and matured on Arran in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. It was bottled at 10 years old in 2014.

Nose
Earthy and solid. Sun drying hay bales and stewed apples. A drop of water shows tangerine skins and fresh mango.
Palate
Sweet and malty with satisfying warmth. Earthiness continues as the flavour of perfectly ripe honeydew melon appears. Subtle notes of Assam tea add to this dram's complexity.
Finish
Sea salt sensation makes the mouth water as bourbon cask flavours of vanilla and desiccated coconut mingle with the distinctive character of Bere Barley.
