Description

Arran Sherry Cask 'The Bodega' Single Malt is a cask strength expression from the Lochranza Distillery on the Isle of Arran, Scotland. It is a luxurious and elegant single malt, matured exclusively in first-fill European oak sherry hogsheads sourced directly from prestigious bodegas in Jerez, Spain. These casks, often seasoned with Oloroso sherry, impart rich layers of sweet spice, dried fruit intensity, and oak to the spirit. This bottling is a significant addition to Arran's core range, produced without chill filtration and bottled at natural cask strength, highlighting Arran's robust distillery character and the influence of high-quality sherry wood.

Nose
Rich sherry notes with chocolate raisins, mandarins, orange chocolate, Christmas spices, dried fruits (figs, red apples, plums, apricots), toasty oak, cinnamon, crystalised ginger, and hints of floral notes, brown sugar, vanilla, and sometimes a touch of menthol or even sulfur.
Palate
Juicy sherry influence with chocolate-dipped cherries, raisins, figs, dark caramel, cinnamon, clove, baking spices, roasted nuts, malt sweetness, and a thick, oily mouthfeel. Notes of dark chocolate, black coffee bitterness, ginger, pepper, and sometimes tropical fruitiness or strawberry milkshake-like sweetness.
Finish
Long and warming with lingering sherry spice, oak tannin, cocoa, dark chocolate praline, white pepper, dried ginger, burnt citrus, and toasted oak. Hints of vanilla, menthol, and a dry, nutty oak.
