Nose
Delicate, malty and nutty, hazelnut toffee, dried apples, medlars, a sylvestry note like drying leaves and pine needles in autumn, crème caramel. Hints of Bordeaux wine, Turkish Delight candy bar, red licorice, willow bushes, fresh-cut poplar wood, vanilla, light nutty almond aromas. Contrasting sweet and sour fruit notes, red grapes and gooseberries, damp newspaper, warm stone, and vanilla. Herbal, with cloves and spearmint.
Palate
Surprisingly sweet at first, followed by a spicy outburst, sweet fudge flavours. Sharp and spicy with a strong push of alcohol, fine oak spice and citrus zest. Flavours of Turkish Delight, red licorice, dabs of raisin and fresh green grapes. Sweet butterscotch candy and light herbal flavours of lemon grass, gooseberry, willow and heather. Mouth-coating, bittersweet, with molasses and red wine.
Finish
Sweet then dry with a nutty aftertaste. Sweet with candied butterscotch and a rather firm cherry licorice flavour. Hints of menthol and a bit of a woody bite. Dark chocolate, raisins, and aniseed in the drying finish.
