Nose
Rich fruitcake and maltloaf, brown butter, dark honey, baked figs, treacle & ginger flapjacks, black fruits, wet leather, pipe smoke aromatics, cinnamon, clove and coffee fondant. Also, raisins, dates, figs, plums, demerara sugar, dark chocolate, citrus, sticky toffee pudding, espresso coffee, roasted almonds, stewed apples, marzipan, old leather, tobacco, fresh baked goods and rich spiced fruit balanced against lower, earthier tones.
Palate
Big and malty delivery, buttery/honey and treacle mix for flapjacks, drying mid palate into a more earthy, bark like brambly forest fruit/blackcurrant cordial body. Nutty sherry wood tannins and sweet, aromatic oak. Oak and exotic spices, dried fruits, chocolate, Manuka honey, coffee. Malt and more autumn fruit, light, leafy flora, deeper wood spice, twist of honey.
Finish
Brandysnaps, ginger, treacle, dark honey and ripe figs, cake spices, drying Sherry wood and toasted raisin. Lingering spices and old oak. Spice and lingering sherry character.
