Description

This is a truly scarce Lowland single malt from Auchentoshan Distillery, independently bottled by The Last Drop Distillers as Release No. 34. Distilled in 1982 and aged for four decades, it was bottled in 2024. Auchentoshan is renowned for its unique triple distillation process, which contributes to a delicate, refined, and often sweet profile. This particular release was drawn from a single cask, yielding a very limited outturn of just 72 bottles worldwide, making it a highly collectible whisky.

Maltiply Tasting Profile
Nose
Fragrant and complex with old oak, dried straw, rich caramel, nutty character with oily walnuts, red apple peel, plums, cloves, and star anise. Also notes of fruitcake, stewed apples, raisins, black cherries, toffee, hazelnut, liquorice, sweet spices, and a light walnut oil transitioning to roasted almonds.
Palate
Medium to full mouthfeel with a satisfying texture. Rich dark fruits including raisins, cherries, and plums, soft sticky ginger cake, and a quality malt character. Savoury tea note, wood spice with cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Also black cherries, cut grass, caramel, vanilla, and a hint of oak.
Finish
Medium in length, with dark rich fruits fading through soft ginger cake into a touch of old oak and warming spice. Long and gentle with hints of liquorice and raisins. A soft, deep finish that lingers.
