Description

Jörmungandr, also known as the Midgard Serpent or World Serpent, is a gigantic monster from Norse mythology. Jörmungandr is said to be the middle child of the god Loke and the jötunn Angrboða. He grew so enormous that he encircled the entire world, biting his own tail. Prophecies foretold that when Jörmungandr releases his tail, Ragnarök, the end of the world, will begin. Bivrost Jörmungandr is the second release in the Loke Series from Aurora Spirit, inspired by the Midgard Serpent. This limited edition Arctic Single Malt Whisky is crafted by the world's northernmost distillery in Norway, using Arctic ingredients and matured in an extreme Arctic climate.

Nose
A little shy at first. Sugary sweetness with cinnamon, red berries and ripe orchard fruits. Malt and honey-glazed apples by the fireplace. With time toasted oak appears, alongside the faintest hint of burnt bread crust. Aromas of soft red berries and stewed orchard fruits, layered with vanilla custard, caramelised sugar and toasted oak.
Palate
Full bodied and creamy with a chewy, expansive mouthfeel. Rich fruitiness leads, supported by mild spices and gentle touches of malt and oak. Velvety and expressive, with raspberry compote and red plum giving way to creme brulee notes of burnt sugar, creamy vanilla and toasted almond. Spice from Arctic barley adds structure with cinnamon, white pepper and a subtle herbal edge.
Finish
Medium long. Continues with rich fruitiness, now gaining structure from cinnamon and nutmeg. Sugary sweetness builds toward notes of Crème Brûlée and nostalgic cinnamon buns, with toasted oak and a flicker of citrus at the end. Medium to long, with lingering caramel, spiced vanilla, dry oak and a clean, mineral freshness.
