Green apple and citrus orchard notes keep the toffee and vanilla from feeling one-note. There is a useful contrast, too: warm bread and honey bring a rounded sweetness, while drying wood influence adds a firmer edge. The finish’s floral malt and slight nuttiness give the sweeter details somewhere to settle. This looks like an engaging malt-led Highland single malt, though the drying wood may be less appealing to someone seeking an entirely soft, sweet character.

Green apple and citrus give the toffee and vanilla some lift, while drying wood and spice keep the sweetness in check. A nicely balanced, though fairly rich, direction.

This points to a fairly rich whisky, with toffee, vanilla and honey at the centre. The orchard citrus and drying wood seem to keep that sweetness from feeling too heavy, which makes for a balanced character.

Fresh green apples and oranges give the aromas a lively start, while oaky vanilla, pencil shavings and smoke make them less simply fruit-led. On the palate, warm bread is the detail that catches my attention. It gives the toffee and vanilla sweetness something more grounded to sit alongside, with apple skin and slight minerality adding contrast. The drying wood influence is a reservation for me. Alongside crème brûlée and treacle tarts, it suggests a sweet, fairly full palate that may not always feel neatly balanced. The spicy finish, with its fresh, floral malt, brings the malt character back into focus. I find that contrast interesting rather than wholly convincing, but there is enough here to hold my attention.
