Description

Started in 1827, when farmer's son George Ballantine set up a small grocery store in Edinburgh supplying a range of whiskies. In 1891 George Ballantine passed away and the business was passed officially to his son, George. It was five years later that George Ballantine & Son was granted a Royal Warrant by Queen Victoria following a regal visit to Glasgow. In 1910, what was to become the brand's flagship, Ballantine's Finest, was launched. 'Serenity' is a blended whisky from Ballantine's, which was released as part of the 'Sensations' range, primarily to markets in the Far East and exclusively to travel retail, making it a rare sight in the UK.

A velvety mix of deep perfumes, oak, raisins and baked apples held together with a heavy sweetness. / quite raw and peaty, dried fruits, caramel, butterscotch, black pepper and some white wine.
Palate
Creamy and succulent. / Toffee, spicy, more black pepper, some smoke and peat, dried fruits come later, impressive.
Finish
There is a rolling echo of flavours, reminiscent of the grand Canyons cast depth. / quite hot, fruity and a little smoke some very pleasing nuttiness as well.
