Description

A 15-year-old Ballechin single malt, the heavily peated whisky made at Edradour Distillery. This particular expression was distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2024, featuring an unusual finish in Huelva orange wine casks from Andalucia, where the rich wine was macerated with orange peel and aged in a solera system. Bottled at cask strength of 54.1% ABV with natural colour, with an outturn of 2,430 bottles.

Nose
A complex and peated aroma, with notes of ripe orange, marzipan, and a hint of smoke. The peatiness offers layers of sweet orange marmalade, tropical fruit, and a subtle earthy character. A delicate peat smoke lingers in the background, adding depth and complexity.
Palate
Rich and full-bodied, with a delightful balance of sweet and smoky notes. The orange wine cask influence is evident, with flavours of candied orange peel, dried apricots, and a touch of spice. The peat smoke is well-integrated, providing a warming and lingering sensation.
Finish
Long and satisfying, with a gentle warmth and a lingering sweetness. The orange wine notes persist, accompanied by a subtle smokiness and a hint of dark chocolate. A truly memorable and complex finish.
