Description

Ballechin is the heavily peated expression from Edradour Distillery, a Highland single malt whisky distillery in Pitlochry, Perthshire, owned by Signatory Vintage since 2002. This is the 6th release in 'The Discovery Series', which explores the influence of different cask types on their peated whisky. This particular expression was matured solely in first-fill Bourbon Barrels for 9 years, from 2002 to 2011. It was bottled in 2011 at 46% ABV and is non-chill filtered. The total outturn for this release was 6,000 bottles.

Light, musty smoke, hints of farmyards, vanilla spice, gentle peat, forest floors and pepper. Dry smoke, sweet notes, light acidity, citrus, tropical fruits, and creamy vanilla.
Palate
Smoky and nutty, some marzipan, hazelnut, custard, olive oil and lapsang souchong. Sweet and creamy, prominent peat smoke, mineral impressions, vanilla, honey, and light fruits.
Finish
Herbal, floral and toasty, some vanilla and oak. Long-lasting, smoke, fresh menthol notes, oak, and honey pudding.
