Description

A single cask Ballechin single malt that was distilled in 2011, before spending 12 years maturing in an oloroso sherry cask. Part of Edradour distillery's heavily peated range, this whisky finds a balance between the rich and fruity sherry influence and savoury peat smoke on the palate.

Nose
Intense peat smoke, with notes of burning embers, and a hint of tar. Rich sherry sweetness, with aromas of dried figs, dates, and raisins. Subtle hints of dark chocolate and leather. A touch of spice, clove and black pepper, adds complexity.
Palate
Full-bodied and powerful, with a rich, oily texture. Dominant peat smoke, with a pronounced earthy character. Sweet sherry notes provide a counterpoint, with flavours of dark fruit and molasses. Warming spice notes, along with hints of espresso and liqourice. The high alcohol content contributes to a long, lingering intensity.
Finish
Long and complex finish with a compelling interplay of smoke and sweetness. The peat smoke gradually fades, leaving behind notes of dark chocolate and dried fruit. A hint of spice and a subtle salty tang. Lingering warmth and a dry, smoky finish.
