Nose
A very gristy, malty style of Balmenach. Green fruit notes, classic pear, green apple, and a sour apple type of sweetness. Opens up to a boozy lemon drizzle cake with fresh lemon zest and royal icing.
Palate
Chewier and thicker than expected, with grist notes of finely ground barley, and hints of cognac/sherry.
Finish
Apple notes in the form of cider or scrumpy, a farm yard style of highland whisky.
