Description

This limited edition Balvenie DoubleWood 25 Year Old was created by Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of The Balvenie DoubleWood, which was first released in 1993. The whisky was distilled in 1993 and matured for 25 years, initially in traditional American oak casks, and then finished for three months in Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks to increase complexity and add fruity, honeyed depths. This release was made available globally in limited numbers, with approximately 3,600 bottles.

Spicy and sweet with a touch of leather, ripe raisin notes and fruit skins, candied orange, honey syrup.
Palate
Sweet and spice, candied orange, honey syrup and brown sugar with sweet dried fruits, velvety mouth-coating taste, ginger, vanilla, green grapes, tropical fruit (papaya, coconut, pineapple, starfruit), aromatic oak.
Finish
Some more spice and a rich sherry influence lingering, long and delicate, honey made from Elderberry flowers, dried dates and dried figs, nutmeg, minty, lemon zest, caramel, and a big yet balanced oak note.
