Description

Built by the Grant family in Dufftown, and situated next door to sister distillery Glenfiddich, Balvenie is at the heart of Grant's range of blends. Despite their proximity and shared water source, the style of spirit produced by the pair are quite different, with Balvenie producing a sweeter, more honeyed and very lightly peated new make spirit. It wasn't until 1990, when Kininvie distillery was ... This limited edition bottling celebrates the 25th anniversary of The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Old, which was originally launched in 1993. It is matured for 12 years, initially in traditional American oak casks, and then finished in Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks for a further nine months.

Sweet fruit and Oloroso sherry notes, layered with honey and vanilla. Ripe raisin notes and fruit skins, dark toffee and caramels, solid malt and dark fruits like cherries.
Palate
Smooth and mellow with nutty sweetness, cinnamon spiciness and a delicate layer of sherry. Syrupy honey sweetness, leather oak tannins, ginger, vanilla, toffee, cola bottles, and juicy orange with other fruits.
Finish
Long and warming with gentle wood spice and raisins. Cocoa-y chocolate pudding with clove and cinnamon spice, and a darker oiliness.
