Description

A historic malt distillery located in the Highland region of Scotland. Since 1989 it has been Japanese-owned as part of the Asahi Group. The Ben Nevis 10 Year Old is a superb introduction to the distillery's style, known for its full-bodied character with a whiff of peat, tropical fruit, and hints of coffee and dark chocolate. It is distilled and bottled at the distillery in Fort William.

Rich and multilayered with sherry notes (hazelnut, raisins, dates, cold coffee), a funky character (linseed oil, wax, mineral/metallic), natural vanilla, toffee, and tropical fruits (papaya, mango, pineapple). Also features malted barley, a hint of smoke, and fresh, green, and nutty undertones.
Palate
Intensely malty and sherried with notes of chocolate orange, coffee, vanilla, and toffee. Features tropical fruitiness, a gentle dryness, and solid peat notes with a bitter sweetness. Also creamy, waxy, with hints of pepper, cloves, and dark chocolate.
Finish
Long and intense, with malt-driven notes, natural vanilla, tropical fruit, and a waxy character. Features spicy and sweet fruit, toffee, caramel, dark chocolate, and a lingering light peatiness with a creamy, smoky, and salty touch.
