Description

* A historic malt distillery located in the Highland region of Scotland. Since 1989 it has been Japanese-owned as part of the Asahi Group. Although it only produces single malt today, the distillery dabbled in grain whisky production from 1955 to 1984, even producing rare examples of single blends.

Nose
Nose – A dense coastal aroma at first followed immediately by orange and lime zests and salted mangoes. After a drop of water, the fruit intensifies and elegantly strides the line between coastal and tropical. Palate – A textured unctuous palate, then hints of wax, stone, sand and burnt syrup. Water reveals tropical fruit salad and adds a refined sweetness. Finish – Long waxy vanilla then tropical fruits including newly ripe mangoes. Ben Nevis funk really emerges here and is amplified with a dash of water before sweet shop goodies and beachy notes.
