Description

This 2006 Ben Nevis was bottled by Hidden Spirits and The Whisky Exchange after 13 years of maturation. It spent twelve years in a first-fill sherry cask, followed by an additional year and one day in an x-Caol Ila cask. This heavily-peated single malt has a rich, smoky character with a fruity, spicy core, and was bottled at natural strength.

Rich, sticky, syrupy, saturated sherry with cocoa, honey, fig, blackberry, apricot, and vanilla bean. Sweet maraschino cherry, dense milk chocolate, creamy caramel, black liquorice, herbs, peppermint, tobacco leaves, and smoke infused into lemon sorbet.
Palate
Medium mouthfeel with heat, coffee, toffee, figs, stewed fruits, pepper, and sulfur. Complex dark cherries, sharp herbal tones, black forest cake, shaved milk chocolate, sugar plums, liquorice chunks, and meaty dark fruits.
Finish
Long with ash, honey, soapstone, charcoal, light syrupy fruity sweetness, dry oak, and pepper. More peat smoke, cherries, prunes, dark fruits, and chocolate chip cookies.
