Description

Finished in a first-fill Pedro Ximénez cask for over three years, this 16-year-old Benriach offers layers of sticky date pudding, raisin, dark chocolate and soft oak spice. The distillery's classic orchard fruit and honeyed malt character sits beneath the richness, giving balance and lift. This single malt whisky was bottled at a cask strength of 57.5% and matured for 16 years in a first fill Pedro Ximénez sherry cask, giving it an exceptionally rich and complex aromatic structure.

Nose
This dram opens with a lovely bold and unmistakable sherried nose. Lots of leather and dark chocolate but there is a fruity side peeking through. We got a touch of ripe banana skins and juicy cherries.
Palate
Classic Benriach in the form of malty goodness with some ginger cake and cinnamon coming through. Freshly baked banana cake too.
Finish
A lingering warmness comes from oatmeal and raisin cookies and a pinch of oakiness.
