- Nose
- A crescendo of overripe dark fruits, stewed pear, smashed fig, and caramelised apple. Also, strawberries, redcurrants, dried plums, raisins, moss, black pepper, ginger, candied cherries, tobacco leaves, mint, toffee, balsawood, peach, wild strawberry, raspberry, mango, banana, plum, nutmeg, cinnamon, white pepper, black tea, vanilla, chestnut honey, pecans, almonds, a hint of Chablis, balsamic, mentholated, and old wood.
- Palate
- Initially sweet and caramelly, with baked apples, blackberries, melons, and molasses. Then a charred layer with plenty of oak spice, pepper, chilli heat, ginger, and a light winey astringency. Red fruits like blueberries, blackcurrants, and strawberries, along with gooseberries, pink grapefruit, bitter orange, lime, custard, sugar paste, and almond candy. Cinnamon, grape pips, cocoa, hazelnut, and a salty edge.
- Finish
- Medium to long, with a winey edge, pepper, cinnamon, and a light sourness. Lingering red fruits, residual spice, gentle oak, sweet caramel, baking spices, astringent, citric, balsamic, and menthol veins.
