Description

This Limited Edition Big Peat bottle is a remarkable marriage of only malt whiskies, exclusively from the island of Islay. It carries a big, bold, beachy, oceanic, and seriously smoky selection of malts, embodying the predominantly peaty and smoky character for which Islay malts are renowned. Douglas Laing's traditional style ensures it is bottled at high alcohol strength and without chill filtration, preserving the natural oils and fats of the whisky.

Nose
Smoke, peat, with citrus fruits and sweet barley grain, developing to a faint bacon aroma. Opens fresh, salty and clean, with sweet malt dried over peat.
Palate
Slightly oily texture, briny with deep, dark flavours; ashy on arrival, developing pepperiness and a touch of tobacco. Notes of ash, sweet tar, beaches, and smoking chimneys, with a subtle salty beach quality.
Finish
Somewhat drying, black pepper, tarry, slightly antiseptic, with dark chocolate and coffee flavours. Long and lingering, replicating the palate with salty, tangy liquorice, smoke, bonfire ashes, and a phenolic quality.
