Description

Bivrost Muspelheim is the third release, and the first of the 2021 releases, in Bivrost's 'nine worlds of Norse mythology' series. This Arctic Single Malt Whisky is a marriage of the distillery's peated and non-peated spirit, all distilled in 2017. It was matured in ex-Islay single malt barrels, ex-bourbon quarter casks, and smaller octave casks. Handcrafted under the Northern Lights in Arctic Norway, it is described as a smoky single malt.

Nose
Toasted vanilla pod, roast chestnuts, honey, and a hint of woody pine.
Palate
Vanilla-y grist, with underlying hints of peppercorn and caramel. Warming earthy peat sticks around.
Finish
Rather short and a little bit too thin for my taste. The bitterness from the palate goes over into the finish, but luckily it ends on a more pleasant sweet and ashy note.
