Description
James Buchanan & Company is a dormant subsidiary of the drinks giant, Diageo, who inherited it and its brands from United Distillers in 1997. They continue to market a number of the company's most notable products in various export markets however, including its Buchanan's and Black & White blends. [cite: Whisky Auctioneer] Black & White is a blended Scotch whisky produced by Diageo in Scotland, known for its light, smooth profile. It was originally created in 1879 by James Buchanan and was initially known as Buchanan's Blend, then House of Commons, before officially becoming Black & White in 1902, named after its distinctive black and white labeling. The brand's iconic motif, featuring a black Scottish Terrier and a white West Highland White Terrier, was conceived by James Buchanan in the 1890s. The blend contains a high proportion of grain whisky, with malt whisky primarily from Dalwhinnie Distillery.
