Description
The Wave II: Distillery & Spirit showcases Bladnoch's method of selecting casks at the peak time of the maturation process for optimal flavour. For this second release, a 1,500 litre Amontillado Sherry tun was filled with Bladnoch whiskies from its extensive stock across the years, all matured in ex-Bourbon casks and combined with fifth and final release of its Waterfall series. Bladnoch Distiller Dr Nick Savage selected five Amontillado sherry tuns to be filled with whiskies from various combinations of cask types for annual release. Wave II has been crafted through a combination of re-charred butts and barrels with first-fill ex-bourbon barrels in the second Amontillado sherry tun, a process which champions fruity, floral character. The remaining whisky from each tun is decanted into the next year's marrying vessel, creating a ripple effect, hence the name, The Wave.
