Description

Bowmore is the oldest operational distillery on the Isle of Islay, established in 1779. It is known for its peated smoky style of single malt. This 21-year-old expression was distilled in 1972 and bottled in 1993, having matured in specially selected casks.

Nose
Very elegant, light peat, accompanied by a fresh mintiness / eucalyptus, resinous notes and soft coastal notes. Beautiful fruity notes (blood oranges, mango) and a pouch of cigarette tobacco. Polished leather. Hints of thyme.
Palate
Sweet mango again, with candied citrus. Then briny notes, bittersweet herbs and oak spices. Plenty of ashes after some time, also a hint of lavender. Oysters and medicinal notes (cough syrup).
Finish
Long with bitter oranges and herbal notes. More peat now.
