Description

This is a spectacular limited edition 34 year old Islay single malt that was produced at the Bowmore distillery in 1971 and bottled in 2005 for the distillery's Vintage Distillation series. Matured for 34 years in sherry wood and bottled at natural cask strength of 51% ABV, this is one of just 960 bottles. It comes in an original gloss black wooden presentation case.

Nose
Bold notes of gingerbread, mulled wine, fruitcake, wine-poached pears, Chinese plum sauce, rosewater, coconut milk, rum, prunes in Armagnac, Havana tobacco, classical peat smoke, seaweed, brine, ginger ale, horse dung, wet hay.
Palate
Very liquoricy, resinous, meaty, with fermented fruits, wax, old rancio (oloroso indeed), and herbs.
Finish
A little too cardboardy and drying.
