Islay Violets
Historical context
The 'Islay Violets' name is a reference to the infamously soapy tasting spirit created at Bowmore throughout the 1980s, which aligns with the 1987 distillation year.

Nose
Intensely floral, with Parma Violet drops and jasmine. Clean notes of furniture polish, lemon peel and laundry drying on the breeze contrast with the smoky character of burning sage. Waxy with violet notes, sweet barley sugar, candied lemon, lavender syrup, and burning rosemary twigs.
Palate
An alpine garden in the summer. Soft violet petals mingle with woody and resinous notes of juniper, pine and rosemary. Champagne cocktails with pink grapefruit juice and rose syrup are served in the afternoon sunshine. Classic floral notes with lavender and sweet violet, Love Heart candy, sultanas, mint, waxy petal notes, vanilla toffee, soft spice, and a touch of damp earth. Slightly ashy and smoky, dark fruits, red grapes, dark chocolate, spicy oak, creamy, wax, leather, honey, salty sweet, fruit acidity, and a little motor oil.
Finish
Fresh vegetal notes of dried mint, eucalyptus, rosemary and coriander leaf are sweetened by lavender perfume and candied fennel seeds. A final burst of violet fades to leave candied lemon, green grass and toffee. Long, smoky, and very floral. Lavender and gentle peat smoke for days.
