Description

The oldest operational distillery on the isle of Islay, built in 1779. Today it is part of the Suntory Group, having been acquired by the Japanese company in 1994. Under their ownership it has been nurtured into one of the most collectable names in Scotch whisky. The Bowmore Legend is a no-age-statement Islay single malt, matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, offering a smooth, balanced taste with gentle peat smoke, citrus, and sea salt. It is considered an ideal introduction to Islay whiskies.

Mild sea breeze and elegant soft peat smoke, with hints of citrus, honey, vanilla, barley malt, and coastal scent, veering towards woodland.
Palate
Mildly smoky with sweet malt notes, caramel, honey, coconut, and a subtle hint of sea salt, with notes of black pepper, cinnamon, candied citrus, unripe banana, apple, liquorice, toasted hazelnuts, and burnt caramel.
Finish
Mild and spicy, medium length, soft and slightly dry with a pleasant smoky note, sweet, marine notes, pine, salty ash, wood, crema catalana, nuts, and liquorice.
