Nose
Notes of earthy dried fruit and layers of spice immediately open, followed by subtle hints of oak, prunes, crushed black pepper and roasted coffee beans. A drop of water brings a marine quality with refreshing hints of citrus, coconut, and pear.
Palate
Spices initially dominate, with a robust mix of nutmeg, black liquorice, sultanas, and dates enhanced with leather and charred aged oak. Sherry casks bring dried fruit, chocolate and almond, while American oak provides vanilla, sweet toffee, brown sugar, and honey. A splash of water opens up marine character, vibrant citrus fruits and floral notes of geranium and lavender.
Finish
Long and complex, with layered spices blending with citrus fruits, toasted oak, smooth honey, chocolate and a hint of gorse flower.
