Description

Pronounced "Brook-Laddie" (Gaelic for 'hill by the shore'), this is Islay's only privately owned distillery, run by genuine whisky artisans with passion and many generations of expertise. This First Edition bottling has been hand-crafted to show off its full-bodied but subtle complexity highlighted by marine freshness. A superb combination of Kentucky oak and Celtic skill. This 17-year-old distillery bottling was released using whisky stock that pre-dated the great distillery resurrection of 2001.

The character balances rounded, creamy sweetness with a fresher, spiced close. Fruit and vanilla-like oak give the palate a soft, composed centre, while pepper and caramelised ginger add a sharper edge at the finish. That contrast keeps the sweetness from feeling one-note. The hints of peat are a small counterpoint, rather than the focus; overall, this reads as an oak-and-fruit-led whisky with texture doing much of the work.
