Description
The Buffalo Trace Single Oak Project was an ambitious and extensive experimental series that began in 1999, exploring the impact of seven variables on bourbon flavor. It involved 96 hand-selected American oak trees, yielding 192 unique barrels, each with different stave seasoning, char levels, whiskey recipes, entry proofs, and aging environments. The project aimed to identify the 'perfect bourbon' through consumer feedback, with Barrel #80 eventually being selected as the standout expression.
