Description

This outrageous 40 year old Islay single malt was laid to sleep at the Bunnahabhain distillery on the 3rd April 1978 and bottled exclusively for the 30th Anniversary of legendary indie bottlers, Signatory Vintage, on the 12th June 2018. Yielded from single refill Sherry butt number 2587 at a natural strength 47.8% ABV, this is one of only 484 bottles and comes complete with a presentation set containing two branded nosing glasses.

Aromas of sherry (walnut, almond, apricot), wildflowers, citrus fruit, cherry soft candy, chalk/mineral, dried papaya, mint, black licorice, oranges, grapes, mushrooms, dirt floor in a cellar, hints of Moroccan spice, rancio. Sweet, rich, earthy/mineral, and spice.
Palate
Salty with passionfruit and roasted tones, industrial oil, dried cherry, brined radish, roasted sage, chocolate covered raisins, raisins, candied orange peel, chocolate, cranberries, currants, meaty (Moroccan lamb tagine), rich with spices, oak, Darjeeling tea, grape soda, papier d'Armenie, and tar.
Finish
Long, malty, vanilla, rhubarb, with a hint of smoke, diesel, limestone, musty/dust, cloves, buffalo grass, anise, orange, cherries, cranberries, currants, earthy, and foresty. Intense, with a good blend of sweet, spicy, and savory.
