Description

Originally based in Aberdeen before being bought by the Campbeltown based Mitchell family in 1969, Wm Cadenhead's is the oldest independent bottler in Scotland. Now their flagship Campbeltown premises - located next to the Springbank distillery - also features their own shop offering a variety of bottled spirits from different distilleries. With their own warehouse stocked full of exciting whiskies. This Bunnahabhain was distilled in 2019, matured for 5 years in a Rioja cask, and bottled in 2025 by Cadenhead's. It yielded 204 bottles at 62.4% ABV. Bunnahabhain is an Islay distillery known for producing both peated and unpeated whiskies, though historically it is almost unpeated. This particular expression is described as deliciously peaty and savoury.

Nose
Lumpwood charcoal, burnt candle wick, teriyaki glaze, eucalyptus, tobacco, tomato leaves. Savoury, hints of rockpool with smoked paprika powder, charcoal and tar, honey and hoisin, glazed gammon, fudge and earthy smoke, peanut skins, nori sheets and a medicinal touch.
Palate
Oily. Very salty, mineral notes, smoked paprika. Slightly sticky, somewhat vinous. Good saline quality, spicy, peppery, tobacco and earthy peat with bacon, salted cashews and smoked strawberries. Medicinal quality.
Finish
Rock salt, hessian, nettle. Long. Linger coastal notes, iodine and a sprinkle of salt. Char and tar.
