A bottle of Burns Malt 21 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky. This was distilled on 24 December 1990, aged in a first fill sherry butt and bottled on 31 December 2011 by The Whisky Barrel in memory of Robert Burns, Scotland's national poet. Nose
Egg yolk. Meaty sherry. With the expected dried fruits. Sultanas plums and prunes. A lovely mélange of sweet and meaty notes, in this heavily sherried nose.
Palate
starting spicy with pepper and cinnamon then drier than I thought it would be. Coffee. Dark chocolate. Earthy, with the dried fruit supporting all this dryness with their sweetness. Full bodied and mouth Coating. Sherry but not too sweet, don't you worry.
Finish
Hot & Spicy with Spices galore and dried sultanas and chocolate.
