Description

This Bushmills 1992 Cognac Cask Finish 28 Year Old is a single malt Irish whiskey from The Causeway Collection, an annual series of rare and unique cask-finished expressions. Distilled in 1992, it was initially matured for 11 years in a combination of Oloroso Sherry and ex-Bourbon casks. The whiskey was then re-casked into Cognac casks for a further 17 years of maturation before being bottled on April 10, 2020, at 46.7% ABV. This non-chill filtered release, made with unpeated Irish barley, showcases Bushmills' dedication to extended secondary maturation and complex flavor profiles. Only 500 bottles were released, with some being a US exclusive.

Fruity start with notes of pear, clove, raspberry, heather honey, menthol, lavender, spicy oak, sweet cinnamon bark, whole cloves, bananas foster, french toast, caramelised brown sugar, vanilla ice cream, pineapple, mango, apricots, cherry, eucalyptus, dark chocolate, dried fruit, orange zest, and crushed walnuts with marzipan.
Palate
Vibrant and full of blackcurrant, passionfruit, subtle floral hints, bright juicy peach, tropical notes, banana, stem ginger syrup, pink peppercorns, cardamom, vanilla syrup infused mocha, muscovado sugar, and a swell of spice with white pepper and raw ginger.
Finish
Long, malty, fruity, lingering with vanilla, anise, ginger, new leather, slight woody astringency, warm cardamom, baking spices, vanilla ice cream, tropical fruit, and pine cones.
